Term: Spring 2017 No. Teachers: 2 Subject: Art & Design No. Students: 75 Year: 8 (12-13yo) Situation In this project, year 8 students were commissioned by the House of Illustration, a gallery based in Kings Cross, to produce illustrations for a booklet explaining about life in the UK for client (whom we cannot disclose as the booklet is not published yet). The project was led by Toya Walker, a resident artist for the House of Illustration, who visited regularly over six weeks. Toya commissioned students to illustrate particular aspects of life in the UK from famous landmarks to the services and represent our key values of tolerance and respect. There was also an opportunity to hear first hand from George Butler, a war artist, who worked in Afghanistan and Syria documenting everyday life and the impact of living in a conflict zone.
